University Professor of Theology, University of San DiegoOrlando Espín is University Professor of theology and religious studies at the University of San Diego. He earned a dual doctorate in systematic and practical theology at the Pontifical Catholic University of Rio de Janeiro, Brazil. Espín has specialized in the study of popular religion, as well as in theological study of culture, interculturality and traditioning. He is author or editor of twelve books, has published over 450 articles in U.S., European and Latin American professional journals, and more than 25 book chapters. Espín has received several national and international awards, including an honorary doctorate and an honorary professorship, and the prestigious “John Courtney Murray Award” from the Catholic Theological Society of America.
