Internship Program

About the program

HTI started offering the Internship Program in 2018, made possible by a grant from the Lilly Endowment Inc., to enhance the leadership capacities of scholars. These paid internships allow eligible scholars to develop leadership skills and academic talents while providing Hispanic-led and Hispanic-serving institutions with additional capacity to expand their initiatives.

Eligibility

HTI gives priority to applicants enrolled as HTI scholars. In addition, PhD students enrolled at HTI Consortium Member Schools are also welcome to apply for these internships.

International Scholars must consult with their sponsoring institutions to discuss eligibility for this internship program.

Compensation

  • Interns receive a stipend of $27 per hour, for a maximum of 480 hours.
  • Interns are not required to work more than ten hours per week during the fall and spring semesters.

Travel & Resource Funds

These funds are available for internship-related travel and resources; up to $1,500 is available every academic year. Internship Supervisor and HTI must approve costs in advance. To apply for Travel & Resource Funds, submit an Internship Funds Request Form one month before the event. Review and adhere to the Expense Guidelines.

Internship sites

For institutions, the benefits of these internships include the ability to choose an applicant who is committed to strengthening Latine churches and communities. This addition increases their capacity and productivity through the intern’s work.

If your organization is interested in participating in this Internship program, submit this Internship Site Application.

Interns

Interns benefit from the program by receiving a stipend, thereby reducing debt, expanding their network, and developing their leadership skills as well as their professional and academic work experience.
