Shannon McCambridge, J.D., LL.M., joined AGB Search in 2014 as an Executive Search Consultant. She brings proven expertise in the selection process and many years of higher education leadership to her work at AGB Search. Since joining the firm, Ms. McCambridge has focused on serving the executive search needs in Catholic higher education across the country.

By professional background, Ms. McCambridge is an employment law attorney who practiced for many years in a large law firm advising clients on a wide spectrum of employment-related and human resource issues, including how to avoid mistakes in the selection process and mediating workplace disputes. She has represented clients before state and federal administrative agencies and courts on employment law matters and has published in the employment law field. For example, her 2013 article, “Third-party Retaliation: The Shoes of an Employer,” was published in Atlanta’s John Marshall Law Journal. Ms. McCambridge earned an LL.M. in Employment Law and has taught graduate and undergraduate employment law and business law courses at three Catholic universities, including Seattle University and Gonzaga University.

In addition to her work with AGB Search, Ms. McCambridge serves as a consultant on best practices in board governance with the Association of Governing Boards of Universities and Colleges (AGB). In this capacity, she co-facilitates AGB’s National Institute for Board Chairs and Presidents. The Institute is designed to assist new chair-president teams in developing robust partnerships and creating focused agendas to best position both the board and institution to meet strategic leadership objectives. She also provides workshops to boards on a host of other topics including fiduciary duties, strategic planning, etc.

Ms. McCambridge knows and understands Catholic higher education as a student, educator, Governing Board member, and parent. As an undergraduate, she attended Gonzaga University, where she was a Truman Scholarship finalist and graduated with honors. She has served four terms on Gonzaga’s Board of Trustees, where she now serves as trustee emerita. As an active trustee, Ms. McCambridge served in Board leadership positions, including chairing both the Academic Policy Committee and the Governance Committee and serving on the Committee on Trustees and Governance, Legal Committee, and Long-term Strategic Planning Committee. During her trusteeship, she was also involved in many executive searches, including the search and transition for the University’s first lay President, Dr. Thayne McCulloh.

Ms. McCambridge also provides comprehensive anti-bias workshops for AGB Search’s clients. These highly interactive workshops are designed to educate Search Committees on the existence of implicit bias. More importantly, they provide safeguards to ensure the integrity of the search process and present an ethical decision-making process for search committees to adopt.
