Michelle Elizabeth Navarrete

Credentials: BA, North Central College / MA, Evangel University / MA, Wheaton College / PhD, Emory University (present)

Denomination: Non-Denominational

Specific Field: Biblical Studies

Michelle was born in Park Ridge, IL, as a daughter of Mexican immigrants. As a second-generation Latina, faith, and culture inevitably intersect in her interests and research. She stays connected with the Latine community in hopes of bridging the church and the academy more fully. People are part of her passion, and she wants her work to reflect that. More specifically, Michelle is interested in lament, liturgy, theologies of exile, biblical translation/interpretation in post-conquest Mexico, and the poetic and prophetic of the Hebrew Bible that embodies all these things.
