Nancy "Rusty" Barceló
Dr. Nancy “Rusty” Barceló is nationally known for her work on equity and Inclusion. She has served as President of Northern New Mexico College, Interim Vice President, Central Connecticut State University, Visiting Special Assistant to the Chancellor, University of Illinois-Urbana Champaign, Vice President/Vice Provost for Equity & Diversity, University of Minnesota & Vice President/Vice Provost for Minority Affairs & Diversity, University of Washington. Barceló held various positions at the University of Iowa from 1975 to 1996, focusing on diversity in Academic and Student Affairs.
Barceló is recognized nationally for speaking and conducting workshops addressing equity, and inclusion. She has received many awards and recognitions, including:
• National Association of Chicanas & Chicano Studies 2012 Scholar award,
• New Mexico Hispano Round Table “Walk the Talk” Award,
• Distinguished Alumnus of the University of Iowa,
• Distinguished Alumnus of the School of Behavioral Science at California State University-Chico
• Ohtli Award by the Mexican Government to a non-Mexican Citizen whose work, research and academic or cultural services have contributed to U.S.-Mexico relations, and to the well-being of the community of people of Mexican origin living the United States.
Dr. Barcelo´ is a consultant for Equity and Inclusion in higher education.
