Michael Orellana Méndez

Director of Graduate Studies in Theology, Universidad Peruana Union (Peru)

Field of Study: Biblical Studies

Dr. Michael Orellana received his Ph.D. in Ancient Near East and Biblical Archaeology from Andrews University in October 2021.  He is currently the Director of Graduate Studies in Theology, Universidad Peruana Union in Peru, where he also teaches full time.  Dr. Orellana’s native Peruvian culture is rich in history and calls his interest to discover links between the Bible and archaeological records. Through his research, he expects to contribute to the understanding of the biblical narrative by making connections between the sacred scriptures and the cultural remains in the Middle East. Michael’s dissertation entitled “Pottery Horizons of the Jalul Ceramic Assemblage in the Iron Age IIA-C from Square G4 in Its Historical and Geographical Context” contributes to the understanding of Jalul’s chronology. He is a Seventh-day Adventist and would like to spread knowledge of the ancient past of the Middle East.
