Hjamil A. Martinez-Vazquez in an independent scholar. He was born in Puerto Rico and he holds a doctoral degree in religious history, with an specialization on religions in the Americas. He is the author of Latinx y Musulman: The Construction of Latinx Identity among Latinx Muslims in the United States, published by Pickwick Publishers, and Made in the Margins: Latinx Constructions of US Religious History by Baylor University Press. Dr. Martinez-Vazquez works in different areas within cultural studies, such as postcolonizing criticism, Latina feminist theories and critical race theories, among others. Presently, he lives with his wife and their son in Fort Worth, Texas.
