Aixa Beauchamp

Aixa has close to 30 years in the philanthropic field and an excellent track record advising foundations and nonprofits. As both a board director and independent consultant, she has advised large and small philanthropic institutions and nonprofits in strategy, leadership development, and organizational effectiveness. She has worked with large-layered systems; such as universities, public schools, large nonprofits, intermediaries, and independent and community foundations in Europe, Latin America, the Caribbean, and the United States. Aixa began her career in the philanthropic sector as a program officer at the New York Community Trust and continued as a consultant for the Association of Community Trusts in London and the Rockefeller Foundation in Buenos Aires, Argentina. As an independent consultant, Aixa has facilitated dialogues across various sectors to advance funder relations in diverse communities. She has designed and developed programs to maximize giving among Latinos in the U.S. and Latin America, and has partnered with a variety of groups to promote sustained and strategic philanthropy among African American, Latino, and Asian American donors.

Aixa uses her experience as the Managing Director of Beauchamp & Associates Consulting to collaborate with a range of nonprofit and foundation stakeholders to improve programmatic structures and resources; strengthening their work with communities through project management, project design, fund development, portfolio assessment, executive coaching, and board development/ governance. She has a well-known reputation as a talented leader and trusted advisor, with strong interpersonal and facilitation skills for building consensus among diverse groups.

Aixa is also known as a committed leader; persistent in working to strengthen Latino and underserved communities in various sectors, from philanthropic and organizational development to health, education and economic mobility. Aixa often serves as a thought leader, panelist, and keynote speaker at conferences; speaking and writing on advancing philanthropic equity. In 2018, Boston Magazine named her as one of the 100 Most Influential People in Boston, and the Women of the Harvard Club Committee honored her with Boston’s Most Influential Woman Award in 2015. She has been featured in Financial Times Wealth, the Boston Globe, Inside Philanthropy, Hispanic Executive Magazine, Commonwealth Magazine and the Boston Herald.

During her career, Aixa has served on a number of nonprofit boards and intermediary organizations. She currently serves on the boards of the Latino Equity Fund @ The Boston Foundation, Boston Children’s Hospital Trust, the Corporation of Mass General Brigham, Commonwealth of Massachusetts Latino Commission and Latinos for Education. She previously served on the Boards of the Commonwealth of Massachusetts Workforce Development Board, Hispanics in Philanthropy, the Base and YMCA.

Aixa holds a Master’s in Public Administration from the Harvard John F. Kennedy School of Government. A native New Yorker of Puerto Rican descent, Aixa has lived in Europe, Latin America and now lives in Newton, MA with her husband with whom she has raised three boys. Deeply invested in the Latino community, Aixa and her husband Thomas have also established the Melendez Beauchamp Family Fund at the Boston Foundation, which supports education and health initiatives.
