Mission

The Hispanic Theological Initiative’s (HTI) mission is cultivating PhD students for leadership positions in the academy, the church, and the world who will strengthen Latine churches and communities. With the support of the 23 Consortium member institutions, the mission and vision of HTI revolve around three major goals:
1
Increase the recruitment, retention, and graduation rates of PhD students committed to strengthening Latine churches and communities across the nation by uniting and leveraging institutional resources (human, financial, and infrastructural).
2
Increase the presence of leaders and faculty–especially, tenured faculty in seminaries, schools of theology, and universities—who demonstrate commitments to strengthening Latine churches and communities through their engagement, expertise, and scholarship.
3
Provide a forum for exchange of information, ideas, and best practices to engage the contributions of faculty and students in theological and religious education who have the capacity and expertise to strengthen Latine churches and communities.
