ORGANIZATION

WABASH CENTER

PROGRAM

Large Project Grant – For faculty in religion, theology, and occasionaly project directors in the same field

DESCRIPTION

This grant is designed for teams of faculty, whole departments, or institutions that want to pursue big, strategic projects in theological education. The projects should be grounded in improving teaching or deepening the teaching life. An example of a current special focus is the Educational Experimentation Grant, which supports faculty at seminaries and theological institutions exploring the challenges and opportunities of Artificial Intelligence (AI) in theological education. This might include developing AI literacy, reflecting on ethical issues like bias and data privacy, or experimenting with AI tools to enhance student engagement and critical thinking. The grant is specifically for work the institution could not normally pay for itself.

ELIGIBILITY

The grant must be requested by accredited colleges, seminaries, or universities that teach religion and theology. While the project director will usually be a full-time religion or theology faculty member, the grant is designed for team-based or departmental projects. For the special focus AI grant, only faculty who teach in seminaries and theological institutions are eligible. All institutions must show they are ready to listen to and act on what is learned from the project.
